Services we provide (including Day and Respite care)

We provide specialised care for people requiring residential, respite or day care as well as support for
people with a dementia condition.

Planning the right amount of care
Syne Hills recognises that everyone has a whole set of different needs, preferences, abilities and wishes, we think this is
what makes us individual and we aspire to meet them. Every person has an important life story, so if we can learn and
understand by talking to them, their family or friends, we'll be able to get to know our residents' history,
interests, preferences and needs so much better. We encourage the participation of family and friends in residents'
daily lives, and offer comfortable facilities for these visits.

Activities & Stimulation
We say at Syne Hills, "An active mind is a happy heart", so creating stimulating activities or organising trips out
are a vital part of our homes philosophy and the importance of social interaction (and that they help to
improve appetites and sleep patterns.) That's why we organise something interesting every weekday,
allowing time at the weekends for family & friends to visit or just to relax. We encourage residents to pursue their
own interests, or perhaps to try something new.

Enjoyable activities are arranged by our dedicated activity co-ordinator, who takes into account the individual tastes
(based on the life history) and abilities of our residents. Music and reminiscence sessions are popular, as are our weekly
trips to local places of interest. The home has longstanding connections within the community and takes part in
local events including coffee mornings, church open days & garden fetes.

As well as visits from local entertainers & vocalists, different seasonally-themed events are held such as Valentines,
Mothering Sunday, Easter, Halloween, Remembrance and of course Christmas.

The Menu
Homemade food is a very important part of daily life at Syne Hills. Our two dedicated chefs have been hand picked and chosen
to be able to consistently deliver balanced and nutritious menus, made using the freshest ingredients, sourced locally.
Each day's menu is written in large, clear type on a chalk board in our dining area.

Personalised dietary care
Where possible prior or soon after a resident arrives we discuss their dietary preferences with them. We cater for a wide
range of dietary issues, including food intolerances, cholesterol reduction, diabetes and difficulty with chewing or swallowing.
It's simply about offering you what you like and not what you don't.

Dining companionship
Residents can choose to dine in their room, or to join others in the spacious dining areas or conservatories. Friends and
relatives are always welcome as we don't have any restrictions on visiting times.

Still feeling hungry? We offer snacks for residents who get hungry outside of normal kitchen hours (7am – 6pm). This
includes fruit, sandwiches, cereals, yoghurts, biscuits and hot or cold drinks. All you need do is ask or if able help yourself
to something from a fruit bowl.

Day or Respite care
We all need a rest or a break from time to time, so whether you care for a relative or are in need of care yourself, taking a
break from your usual routine can do the world of good. Be reassured knowing that your relative or friend is in a safe,
welcoming & homely environment with care & activity matched to their needs. A day or respite stay with Syne Hills Care Home
gives people the opportunity to enjoy time with others, whilst having the opportunity to get out and about, feel refreshed or just
to have a rest themselves.

Respite care is ideal for those looking for convalescence, either following a hospital stay or an illness. Getting strong
again even if just for a week or two can make all the difference meaning that return home lasts. Many people also arrange
a trial stay as a temporary resident to see if the home is the right choice for them as their new home.

We take Day care bookings Monday to Saturday and respite bookings are accepted on a weekly basis from Sunday to
Sunday in one of our designated ensuite rooms.

Dementia care
If someone can feel comfortable, safe and engaged with their environment, then we can help to ensure they live a life with their
dementia to the full rather than just coping or existing with it. "An active mind is a happy heart!" remember!

Syne Hills awareness of this condition whilst offering the right amount of support with staff that have the personality to
communicate effectively is vital in the success of enriching the lives of those who have any form of dementia.
